Each year, the Faculty of Educational Sciences presents an award to its employees and students who have made a special effort to strengthen sustainability in accordance with the faculty’s vision:
“In a situation where the planet’s basis of existence is threatened, ecologically and socially, the faculty must be a driving force for people’s and organisations’ ability to learn, collaborate and find solutions to complex sustainability challenges.”
Statutes
- The award encompasses all areas of the faculty’s sustainability strategy: Research and innovation, education and innovation, and organisation.
- The award can be given to both individuals and groups of persons, including organisational units. The award may be given for a single achievement in the previous year, or for an effort or activity that extends over a long period of time. Both work effort and results can be emphasised in the nomination.
- A concept of sustainability is used that also includes social science and humanities perspectives on sustainability.
- The award is a grant (working capital) of NOK 25,000 and a graphic print. The award is presented annually by the Dean.
- 5 years must have passed before the award can be given to the same person or community again.
Nomination of candidates
Candidates are nominated by employees or students at the Faculty of Educational Sciences before 1 November. Grounds must be given for proposals and must include a specific account of the factors that make the candidate worthy of the award.
Jury
The award winner is selected by an external jury appointed by the Dean in accordance with guidelines issued by the Faculty Board. The jury consists of both academic and administrative employees, students and external members.
The Faculty of Educational Sciences established the Sustainability Award in 2023.
