Title: What is involved in being an expert for the government?
Abstract: Last year I was invited to a governmentally appointed committee with the task to give advice on issues relating to the Norwegian system for supporting educational stakeholders (from students to the government) with information to monitor quality and support school development (for more information on this committee, in Norwegian: https://kvalitetsutviklingsutvalget.no/). In this talk, I will present some highlights of the work done in this committee so far, but more importantly, I would like to offer a reflection on what is involved when academics exercise a role as experts in highly politicized issues in education.
