Title: Quantifying the relationship between item difficulty and item features in the Norwegian National Numeracy Tests

Abstract: Understanding what makes an item difficult carries a range of benefits, both in assessment and instruction. In this talk, I will present a study in the early stages aimed at identifying and quantifying the relationship between item features and the difficulty of numeracy items, specifically items used in the Norwegian National Numeracy tests aimed at students in grades 5 and 8. The study will take into account both construct-relevant features such as content domain and contextual setting, as well as construct-irrelevant features such as item format and text length.
