Title: Combining expert judgment and psychometric information in evaluating the quality of the Ethiopian national licencing examination in medicine
Abstract: In a joint project between Jimma University, Ethiopia, and the University of Oslo, we aim to provide combined evidence for the quality of the Ethiopian national licensing examination in medicine. The specific objectives of the project are: First, to gather and present information on how this exam is build and conducted. Second, to evaluate the psychometric properties of this exam. Third, to contrast expert judgments on item contents with these psychometric properties. To address these aims, we collected both qualitative (expert interviews) and quantitative data (student responses to exam items and expert judgments from standard setting). We will present background on the Ethiopian context of medical training and preliminary analyses of exam data. Furthermore, we want to discuss future possibilities to address research questions using this dataset.
