Abstract

While student emotions have been investigated in depth, research on university teachers’ emotions is still relatively scarce, especially when it comes to the full spectrum of affective experiences. The presentation will offer an overview of the current state of research on university teachers’ emotions, building on a recent review on the existing research (Maier et al., in prep.). It will cover aspects such as emotion experience and regulation, appraisal theories of emotions, intercultural differences as well as research methodologies. Selected studies will be used to exemplify opportunities and challenges in this field of research, exploring ways into future investigation.
