LEA Guest Lecture: Differentiated Instruction Around the World

LEA research group proudly presents a guest lecture on “Differentiated Instruction Around the World” by Dr Ridwan Maulana from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.

Summary

Join us for a presentation by Dr. Ridwan Maulana (University of Groningen, the Netherlands) exploring international perspectives on differentiated instruction (DI).

Dr. Maulana will present an overview of the research lines of the Department of Teacher Education at the University of Groningen and highlight his own research interests and projects. He will then share findings from one of the recently completed international projects on teaching quality focusing on differentiated instruction (DI) across countries.

DI has been advocated widely in education nowadays. Policymakers and researchers urge teachers to embrace diversity and to adapt their instruction to the diverse learning needs of students in their classrooms. Although the concept of DI is quite well known, studies using different measures indicate that teachers across different countries generally do not adapt their instruction much to student characteristics. This project aims to measure DI across several countries using a uniform measure to allow for better comparison of DI internationally.
