If you have an external supervisor, you should state that Head of Studies Anne Line Wittek as project manager in the application.
- Students with an external supervisor must contact the Head of Studies for a conversation about the master's thesis in general. The conversation must be in the initial phase of the master's thesis.
- In certain cases, Sikt asks that you also list a data protection officer at UiO. You can see who the privacy protection officer is at UiO here.
- If you are going to work with medical and health professional information, your project must also be pre-approved by the Regional Committee for Medical and Health Research Ethics (REK). Due to the time frame, the department recommends that master's students do not choose REK projects.

- There are many additional challenges involved in collecting red data. You should avoid it as much as possible. If you have red data in your project, you can request access to IPED's storage area in UiO's Services for Sensitive Data (TSD).
