Formal Structural Guidelines

This is an overview of the formal structural guidelines. The main rule is that you are consistent throughout the thesis and do not alternate between different formats, reading lists, citation models, etc. It should be neat and easily legible.

  • Line spacing: 1.5.
  • Left and right margins: 2.5 cm.
  • Pages should be numbered.
  • Font size 12 with standard font Times New Roman.
  • Paragraphs should not be indented, but should have a line break between paragraphs.
  • The headings should be written from the left margin. No more than three heading levels should be used. Use the decimal system to rank headings. In addition, you can use different font sizes, font types, or uppercase and lowercase letters as in the following example:

  • Line spacing should be set to 2 between a heading and following paragraph,.
  • If you have shapes, they should be numbered in italics and include brief explanatory text. The text should be below the shape in font size 10:

  • Tables should be numbered correctly, and after a line break include a descriptive title in italics. The text should be above the table in font size 10:

       Table 5:
       Average for well-being among teachers with different educational backgrounds.
