Guest researcher: Geoffrey Carlisle

Geoff Carlisle is a visiting researcher sponsored by the US-Norway Fulbright Association . He is investigating the impact of the policy reforms enacted in 2017 to educator-preparation programs on the preparation, retention, and attrition of new teachers. He is conducting his research under the advisement of Dr. Inga Staal Jenset, and hopes to utilize findings from Norway inform policy recommendations back in the U.S.

For 12 years he served as a science teacher to middle grades students in Mississippi and Texas. He recently earned his Master's from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin, and completed his undergraduate education at St. Olaf College. Carlise will be part of the research group Studies of Instruction across Subjects and Competences (SISCO).
