Selling's research is in the field of mathematics education, with focus on teaching quality. Specifically, his research focuses on teachers’ goal setting in mathematics education, mathematical tasks, and contextualization.
Background
Alexander completed his master thesis in mathematical didactics at the University of Oslo in 2017. The thesis focused on teacher-set goals in mathematics education and was part of the LISA project. Between 2017 and 2019 Selling worked full-time as a teacher in mathematics and natural sciences at Vestby VGS.
PhD Dissertation
PhD project, “Goal setting in Nordic lower secondary mathematics classrooms”, a comparative study of teachers’ goal setting in Nordic countries as a part of quality of teaching. The PhD thesis is part of Nordic Centre of Excellence Quality in Nordic Teaching (QUINT)
