About the project
Perspective-taking is an affective, cognitive and moral act that both can reveal, build and change relationships. In the context of the Anthropocene, however, it becomes imperative to not only know how to take the perspective of Others, but also which perspectives to take. How do we include oft-forgotten perspectives of and relations to the more-than-human?
This doctoral project is a practice-oriented, empirical exploration of both current and future didactical perspective-taking theory and practices in Environment and Sustainability Education and Moral Education. Informed by post-human, feminist, psychological and Bildung traditions, the project has an especial focus on the educational potential of exploring more-than-human perspectives.
Aims
The goal of the project is, through collaboration with practitioners, to develop pragmatic, viable, and both empirically and theoretically sound didactical perspective-taking in moral education. The goal is furthermore to contribute to ongoing theoretical developments on the inclusion of more-than-human perspectives in both Bildung and education.
Background
The project is iterative, participatory, and co-creative. Perspective-taking will be developed in collaboration with practitioners. Data collection will consist of interviews, observations, and text analysis. Process data will also be important, as the development of strategies will be an ongoing venture.
