About the project

The project seeks to investigate how three Scandinavian schools collaborate in order to strengthen student`s democratic citizenship through involvement and participation in democratic processes in and outside of school.

Researchers from the Institute for Teacher Education (ILS) and MF Norwegian School of Theology, Religion, and Society (MF) are involved in research-practice cooperation throughout the entire project period (3 years). We conduct accompanying research on both teachers' and students' development work. The project will provide insights into how democracy and citizenship, which are central topics in Swedish, Danish, and Norwegian schools, are addressed in a Scandinavian context.

Central themes in the project:

  • Democracy and citizenship education
  • Student involvement and empowerment
  • Social science didactics
  • Diversity
