I am interested in professional learning and knowledge, and how actors with different backgrounds and roles come together to (further) develop common technology and services.
In my doctoral work, I am following a group of healthcare workers from city districts, health houses, and nursing homes who are designing and developing a technology to improve patient and information flow across institutions.
Technology development is part of the work of healthcare workers, but their work is just as much about organizing healthcare services in new ways that promote better collaboration.
I have an ethnographic approach where I have been following a design group consisting of a project manager, developers, and healthcare professionals from different healthcare units. The goal is to investigate and understand their collaboration, as it is known that this type of design work can be challenging. Furthermore, I will examine the competence and expertise required from the healthcare workers for such rather unconventional healthcare work.
