Academic interests

I am interested in thinking critically about educational thinkers. In my PhD project, I examine the French philosopher Jacques Rancière’s commitment to radical equality. I do this by confronting radical equality to what children and youth have been saying and writing during the school strikes for climate.

On the one hand, children have shown their political will regarding climate questions. They have shown that they can think and express themselves. On the other hand, the activist Greta Thunberg have reminded us: “We are too young to do this”. So are they? Could children be seen as political subjects? If so, what would be the implications for thinking democracy and education?

My master thesis was a critical investigation of philosopher of education Gert Biesta, and especially his idea of education as subjectification.
