About the project
Due to the recent popularity of narrative approaches to (empirical) research, it is important to identify both their strengths and shortcomings, such that their place, possibilities and limitations in social scientifc research may be appraised. The project is philosophical, mainly epistemological, in character. Examples of issues addressed are: the narrative form as a representational device; hindsight, redescription and the metaphorical "as if"; particularity and universality in narrative form; narrative truth, and the notion of voice.
