Mediatized stories in Georgia's democratization

Completed

Project leaders: James V. Wertsch and Zurab Karumidze

Georgia is now one of the world's most interesting laboratories for democracy. One of the central tasks it faces is developing a new education system. There is good access to the Internet in the capital city of Tbilisi and several other locations, and there is a rapidly growing group of young people who know English. For all these reasons, it is an excellent site for expanding the study of mediatized stories as they begin to make their appearance in a new setting. The inclusion of mediatized stories in the Georgian classroom and informal educational setting would provide an unusual and very promising experiment in social, educational, and psychological transformation.
