About the project
The number of internationally adopted children in Norway has been growing steadily up until 2007, with the majority of children coming from China, Korea and Colombia. As for today, the number has fallen and constitutes about 250 children adopted every year. However, Norway is still one of the countries with the highest adoption ratio (relation between the number of population and number of adopted children), making this area of research extremely interesting for society.
Objectives
Since the project is connected to "Children's social development" project, we have a unique opportunity to compare the development of adopted and native children.
Outcomes
119 families were studied, interviewed and observed each year after adoption. The final phase of the project is planned for 2011.
