Despite small delays due to illness and various school activities, almost all participating children have now successfully completed the intervention program with at least 20 reading sessions.

We are happy to announce that we are going back to our participating schools to initiate the second round of data collection with our older group of children in 5th grade. This pilot phase will help us detect and improve our new materials towards fine-tuning our assessment and intervention for 5th-grade students.

Currently, our team members are visiting our participating schools to spread the word about our upcoming pilot data collection in the Spring and intervention in the Fall!

After much deliberation, we have decided that it is too risky to embark on the intervention as planned during the coming semester. The reason is the uncertainty of how the pandemic may develop and affect schools. Click on the link to read more.

After a year of hard work amidst an ongoing pandemic, we took a moment to relax and celebrate our accomplishments so far, with plenty of food, drink, and dessert. Fun was had by all!

We are excited to announce the second round of data collection getting started with children in 2nd grade. These data will help us detect and correct problems with new materials, and also adjust and select materials that will be used in Grade 2 assessment and intervention.

After reviewing a long list of applicants to announced positions for research assistants, and interviewing several capable candidates, we are happy that Siri Sandberg, Tone Sannerholt, and Marie Nordahl have joined the project team to help with assessment and intervention.

(October 5, 2021)

The team met with our external collaborator, Bob McMurray, to discuss the data of a word reading test and plan the writeup of a report about it. We decided to collect additional data from adults, in order to confirm our interpretation, before producing the final report.

(September 29, 2021)

Members of our team visited two participating schools and presented the project to parents’ meetings. We are grateful for the opportunity to meet teachers and parents and discuss our project, and we are looking forward to going back next semester.
