This upcoming semester we will meet 16 Grade 5 students at each of our three participating schools. The semester will start with two weeks of assessment for all of the children, before half of the children at each school receive the reading fluency intervention for six weeks. Later in the semester, the other half of the participating children will receive the six-week intervention. During the intervention, the children will go through a total of 24 individual sessions that involve the repeated readings of an engaging and age-appropriate story.
We are all set and excited for the semester that lies ahead. Hopefully the participating children will find it equally exciting! All of the children will receive their own “road-map”, with one “step” for each intervention session, on which they can place a sticker for every completed session. Along the way, there will also be fun games and surprises!
