Our pilot data collection includes two sessions. A more traditional session, where children are asked to read and answer questions about brief passages, repeat increasingly long made-up words in a fun tongue-twisting game, and choose pictures that match a printed story. In a following eye-tracking session, children’s gaze is recorded as they call out numbers, pictures, and words, read brief passages, and choose the correct picture that corresponds to briefly flashed words. This last one really needs all of one’s attention to manage to read in time!
