Early Childhood Education: Chinese Anji play approach

Professor He Min is an expert of early childhood education and of children emotional regulation and expression and sharing of play experiences.

Norwegian kindergarten system already provides a very good play environment for young children. They can play in open air and nature with quite a lot of challenges that support children’s learning and development.

The seminar will introduce a different and innovative approach, called Chinese Anji play as a different type of outdoor play, which emphasizes children’s expressivity and sharing of their play experiences. This model received much of attention in Early Childhood Education worldwide and can produce an interesting dialogue with the Norwegian early childhood education model.

Professor He Min will describe the model, illustrate some empirical work, and finally  have a dialogue with the kindergarten teachers to answer their question and develop new ideas and collaborations.

Biography: 

Professor He Min, PhD, is Vice chair of professional committee for child-care for children of 0-3 years. She is certified trainer by PITC (Programme for infant and Toddler Care), USA. She cooperates with Norwegian, Danish, and Japanese early childhood education researchers.

Her recent research projects cover:

• Family activities for 0-3 years children in community of migrant population with the Save the Children Chinese office;
• Teacher-children interaction for 2-3 year kindergartens of Shanghai
• Operational Guideline for Teachers Supporting 0-3 years old children, Shanghai Education Committee.
