IDEA UndervisningsLab: Making active learning classrooms work POSTPONED

Higher education instructors understand the importance of quality course design, but do we think about the importance of how we arrange our physical teaching spaces? Students and teachers at UV have explored how physical classroom space can support active learning.

Arrangement information

Physical space is important for active learning, but the classroom and auditorium spaces can be easily overlooked when designing learning activities. For higher education instructors, we need to think innovatively about the use of physical space and integration of technology as resources that support our pedagogical intentions. Helga Engs hus offers two particular rooms - HES 241 and U39 - that have been designed to promote experimentation with precisely this in mind.

This IDEA UndervisningsLab presents a pilot project involving PED 4501 students and teachers Palmyre Pierroux and Morgane Domanchin. Palmyre and Morgane will share their experiences experimenting with students on the flexible use and varied arrangement of learning resources and the physical space for specific pedagogical activites.

If you are interested in how flexible and varied use of physical space and technology can support active learing in your teaching, we encourage you to join this UndervisningsLab.
