IDEA Workshop - Using AI in teaching: Student assignments and forms of work

How do we facilitate students' critical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for learning and interaction? What pedagogical considerations do we need to account for when dealing with AI?

Join the IDEA Workshop and learn together with other educators how AI can be used to support students' learning in various subjects.

Knowledge about AI's language models, use methods, and usage rules is developing and spreading quickly in the education sector. However, using AI tools is challenging when they have not been created based on pedagogical considerations and needs.

This workshop will facilitate both discussions and concrete co-design of tasks and work methods using GPT UiO. Participants will have the opportunity to practice together on the formulation of prompts as part of task design and work methods for use in their own subject teaching.

Led by Professor Emeritus Andreas Lund (ILS), this workshop series will build on ongoing work within the project AI in education at UV. The project aims for responsible, innovative, and subject-relevant integration of AI in teaching.

Program:

  • Introduction: AI as an interface of large language models
  • Demonstration of GPT UiO
  • Pedagogical principles for using AI in teaching and discussion
  • Co-designing assignments and forms of work

This workshop is a part of the IDEA Workshop Series on Artificial Intelligence in Teaching. The series is offered to UV educators through Spring 2024.

The workshop can be held in both Norwegian and English, based on participant needs.
