Description
This workshop is for the QUINT Conference 2023 delegates with prior registration or upon invitation. The workshop is organised as a fishbowl conversation between upper secondary teachers from all Nordic countries and QUINT researchers in the inner circle. The outer circle is represented by the conference participants, no prior preparations for this group are necessary.
The fishbowl conversation will center around questions:
- What is teaching quality?
- How do we observe teaching quality?
- Which role does our language play in observing teaching quality?
- Which role does contextual knowledge play in understanding teaching quality?
Discussions are structured around the video recordings from real life contexts and situations in the Nordic classrooms, obtained through the QUINT research project LISA Nordic Study.

Step 1 Before the workshop (May)
Teachers and researchers/organisers will view the videos before the workshop. A list of questions to be discussed will be provided by organisers.
At the conference venue the fishbowl conversation will be conducted in two repeated steps:
Step 2 (at the conference)
Inner circle discussion at the workshop.
Step 3 (at the conference)
Moderated full group discussion. Outer circle participants receive observation tasks while watching inner circle discussion.
Steps 2-3 will be repeated with attention to a variety of questions, and up to three videos.
