Jóhann Örn Sigurjónsson

Academic Interests

Jóhann Örn Sigurjónsson is a postdoctoral fellow within the LISA Nordic project. He was previously a QUINT PhD fellow within the same project. His academic interests involve mathematics education, research on teaching quality and gifted education. His most recent work is on cognitive activation in Icelandic and Nordic mathematics classrooms, building primarily on classroom video data, but also in connection to the use of student surveys.

Postdoctoral project 

Jóhann Örn Sigurjónsson's aim in his postdoc project is to draw links between the quality of teacher's instructional explanations and emphasis on students' intellectual work, building on PLATO elements Intellectual Challenge and Representation of Content.
