We decided early in the project that one method for which students can answer questions should be video-based, enabling each group to work on their presentation skills and make use of technologies now becoming commonplace. Building on Internet trends, we also decided to include a Twitter-like messaging interface for answering questions and then spatially positioning the text. The latter is to encourage students to integrate each others’ answers by re-using tweets, thereby encouraging discussion around difficult scientific principles.
Three device platforms gathered and processed the information reflected in the trajectory outcomes:
- Back-end server configuration called “SciHub”,
- Desktop application referred to as "SciWork",
- iPod and iPad
